Usage of Data Sorting –
Data sort by Value Content
In the Excel Sheet we can arrange Data by Different Order. List short by A to Z Alphabetical order Or reverse. Numerical column Data short by Smallest to Largest or Largest to Smallest. Date can arrange by Oldest to newest or Newest to oldest. Using this function we can Organize large Data as per our Requirement by only one click.
How to use Shorting Option –
Sort Date Oldest to Newest –
Select Data.
Home >> Sort & Filter >> Oldest to Newest
Short Cut – Alt >> H >> S >> S
The Sort Function is useful for arranging the Date as Oldest to Newest or vice versa.
In the column Old Dates will be arranged up and New dates goes down.
Date appears in the column E in the picture below. Select to sort it. In the home tab, select the sort & Filter option. Click Sort Oldest to Newest from Drop down list.
A new window will open sort waning. There are 2 option.
1.Expand the Selection
2.Continue with the current selection.
Select the 1st Option Expand Selection option to sort the information in the other column attached to the Date. Then click Sort.
Convert separate text to column by space using function Text to column
All information Related to the Date is sorted by order Oldest to Newest.In the column Old Dates will be arranged up and New dates goes down.
Continue with current Selection –
If you choose 2nd option Continue with current selection, your only selected data will be arranged according to the order. Remaining Data will not be changed.
Data Sort Newest to oldest –
Select Data.

Short Cut – Alt >> H >> S >> O
Use Newest to Oldest Option to Arrange Dates by Descending Order.In the Date column New Dates will be arranged up and old dates goes down.

All information Related to the Date is sorted Newest to Oldest.
Get Data back to its Original Position –
Select Serial Numbers.
Home >> Sort & Filter >> Sort Smallest to Largest
Short Cut – Alt >> H >> S >> S
Use Sort Smallest to largest option to Arrange ascending order.
(If the data of the number is selected, excel will automatically show the tab- sort smallest to largest, instead of – sort A to Z)
Shorten the Serial Number to smallest to largest to return the arrange data to its original position.
